Our Centre:
When you come through our doors you will be welcomed into our light and peaceful hallway where you will be greeted with either the homely scent of our qualified chef’s cooking/baking or the various essential oils diffusing throughout the centre; and the beautiful museum-like exhibits of the children’s creations proudly adorning our hallway. Our purpose-built learning environment is divided into 6 smaller classrooms. Our indoor classrooms are sound-proofed, richly resourced and filled with awe-inspiring spaces created by the children and teachers. Our expansive and meticulously designed outdoor gardens and play spaces are segregated into 3 play grounds: 1 shared by the two Nursery classrooms; the second which is shared between the Toddlers and Preschool 1 classrooms; lastly, the third and largest shared by Preschool 2 and Kindy classrooms.
Our Team:
We are a strong team of over 30 staff members made up of the most dedicated people in the industry. Our centre manager is a trained nurse, a background she shares with 3 other teaching staff. Our leadership team alone have a combined teaching experience of at least 45 years. We believe in diversity; our people come from many walks of life and bring with them their cultural knowledge, talents, wisdom and stories. Relief staff are of the highest quality – highly experienced registered teachers, an educational psychology masters student, an ex-midwife, and the likes. Altogether, we strive to create a place where your child can feel safe, loved and inspired to learn.
Our Community:
- We strive to create beautiful memories for our children and celebrate diversity in our centre through our community events such as Matariki Festival, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day breakfasts, Grandparents’ Day, Teachers’ Day, International Children’s Day, Chinese New Year and many more.
- We believe it is never too early to teach children about responsible citizenship and social / environmental conscience. Hence, we actively seek collaborative partnerships with worthy causes and organisations in our local community to bring hands-on and meaningful learning experiences for the children.
- We engage whanau in the children’s learning through Storypark and invite them to take an active interest in our centre activities.
- We believe in the power of a genuinely inclusive learning community in shaping a future generation that is accepting of all differences. We work together with the whanau and other professional agencies to develop effective strategies to support the unique needs of all learners; and to foster the value of empathy as we learn and grow together.
- We are committed to strengthening our bicultural practice; and nurturing in our youngest citizens a sense of pride in Aotearoa New Zealand’s unique bicultural identity.
ERO Report
The Education Review Office (ERO) is the New Zealand government department that evaluates and reports on the education and care of students in schools and early childhood services. ERO’s reports are used by parents, teachers, early childhood education managers, school principals and trustees, and by government policy makers.
Early childhood services are reviewed on average once every three years. Reviews will be more frequent where the performance of a school or centre is poor and there are risks to the education and safety of the students, or less frequent where a school has a stable reporting history and demonstrates good self-review processes and use of its assessment information.
You can read our centre’s ERO review here.Centre Information
